Who Are We

Økosamfundet Dyssekilde consists of lots of different people.
By the end of 2009 we were 62 children, 63 women and 53 men between 0 and 91 years old. We think that the fact that people of all ages live here contributes to a vital and living interaction.
Generally there is probably a greater interest in the spiritual and alternative aspects here, compared with the surrounding society, however individually our interest and convictions differ greatly. If one was to pinpoint one thing that bind us together it had to be that we all value the ecological thought, and share a wish to live in a place where social interaction, respect and tolerance is honoured.

Local Jobs for Global People

Right from the beginning it has been our thought to create as many local jobs as possible. Today approximately 25 persons run their own businesses from or around the village, for instance craftspeople, builders, therapists and artists. Almost 20 people are employed locally at the school, the kindergarten, the bakery or the shop. The rest either work further away, are retired or students.
Within the village there is also a great ethnic variation with both inhabitants and guests from many different countries and continents.
